Με τη κρακ να ρημάζει τη Νέα Υόρκη στα 70ς, οι Young Lords (Νέοι Αφέντες) και οι Black Panthers (Μαύροι Πάνθηρες) αγωνίστηκαν για ριζοσπαστική αλλαγή στις κοινότητές τους. Ξεκίνησαν το πρώτο πρόγραμμα απεξάρτησης με θεραπευτικό βελονισμό στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες. Ενώ η κληρόνομιά που έχει αφήσει το πρόγραμμα συνεχίζεται από τους κατοίκους του Μπρονξ και του Άνω Μανχάτταν, τα άτομα υπεύθυνα για τη δημιουργία του έχουν υποφέρει από δεκαετίες κρατικής δίωξης.
Στα Ζιζάνια αντιμετωπίζουμε καθημερινά το ζήτημα της χρήσης και της αστεγίας στη Βικτώρια. Παρατημένοι απ'το κράτος και παρενοχλημένοι απ' τους μπάτσους, οι χρήστες ναρκωτικών έξω από την πόρτα μας αντιμετωπίζουν συνεχώς βία. Με αυτή τη προβολή ελπίζουμε να σηματοδοτήσουμε τη σύνδεση μεταξύ ναρκωτικών και του κράτους και να στραφούμε προς ριζοσπαστικές, μη-τοξικοφοβικές προσεγγίσεις. Πριν και κατά τη διάρκεια της προβολής θα υπάρξει μπαρ για την οικονομική ενίσχυση της κατάληψης καθώς και το κείμενό μας σχετικά με την κατάσταση στο δρόμο έξω από το κτήριο.

Dope Is Death

With crack ravaging New York City in the 1970s, the Young Lords and Black Panthers fought for radical change in their communities. They created the first acupuncture detoxification program in the United States. While the legacy of the program has long been maintained by the residents of the Bronx and Upper Manhattan, the individuals responsible for its creation have suffered from decades of state-sanctioned persecution.
In Zizania we face the daily issue of drug use and homelessness in Viktoria. Abandoned by the state and harassed by the cops those using drugs and sleeping outside our door face constant violence. With this film screening we hope to raise the connection between drugs and the state and look at radical, non-toxicaphobic approaches. There will also be a bar to continue to raise funds for zizania and our text on the situation on the street will be available too.

Η δομή έχει σκοπό τη λειτουργία της κουζίνας, της διανομής τροφής και του χαριστικού παζαριού, καθώς και την εξερεύνηση τρόπων κάλυψης και άλλων αναγκών.
